"Weigh Down" - Canadian Family Magazine

AD - Colleen Nicholson

This illustration was just done for an article in Canadian Family Magazine's summer issue about a mom who lost 80 pounds while on mat leave. They wanted something strong but lighthearted and needed to convey that improving your health is a struggle and a journey so they didn’t want the woman to look too fit and perfect. I sent in three sketches and they approved my favourite of the three which is always nice

Changes...

So my website that used to be hosted by Geocities is no longer as Geocities has shut down. I figured it was time for a change and a website that I can easily update myself. I looked into a lot of options and have decided for now to host my images on Carbonmade.com. I plan on adding some more Galleries which will include some "in use" examples of my work in print, "sketches" and "archives" of older work. As well as a section for my newest pieces.
It's maybe not the best platform as I can't intigrate my blog and galleries together but in terms of ease of use it's pretty much is the best thing out there for the website challenged such as myself.

Love to Hate

I did this illustration awhile ago for a project that was supposed to be published but never was. The brief was to illustrate what you "love to hate". I'm not a big "hater" of anything so I mulled it over and starting thinking about all the websites devoted to loving/hating beautiful, wealthy, famous people. So I kept it simple, don't we all secretly love to hate those perfect beautiful blonde girls?

Ages and Stages...

I was contacted by Canadian Family magazine recently to do seven spot illustrations for their Ages and Stages section of the magazine. Each illustration/article deals with issues a parent may come across in that stage of their child's life. It was a fun yet challenging assignment and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. The illustrations appear in the April edition of their magazine which is out on shelves now. Look for me on the contributors page too!
